Notebook: About
DMY Studio is a web design company founded and run by me, Denise Young. I've created sites for organizations all over the world, but am very happily based in Carlsbad, California which is in North County San Diego.
I've worked in the in the entertainment and communications industries for almost two decades. In that time I've worked professionally as a segment producer, stop-motion control animator, model maker, actor and even had the opportunity to plan and oversee the creation of a children's garden on the campus of UCLA among many other experiences. With the advent of the internet I became interested in the vast potential of the technologies and the opportunities it brought people. I soon found myself working as the 'site integrator' at the now defunct start-up neighborplace.com, where I was primarily the liaison between the creative front end and more technical back-end. But in the spirit of the start-ups of the late 90's I also oversaw the production of a promotional video for the company, was an integral part of planning, designing and building of dozens of sites for homeowner associations, and even wrote a column which focused on entertaining and homemaking.
I then began working with Arts. Incorporated and the Cultural Affairs Department of Los Angeles overseeing a project that would bring a web accessible arts database to the city of Los Angeles.
Afterwards, I began DMY Studio, focusing my attention on small business sites and nonprofit groups. And that's what I've been doing since 2002.
I love working with different kinds of organizations and people. I find that helping clients distill what they do and present it to the world via their web sites to be enormously satisfying. It's a privilege to get to know each of them and play a small part in helping them grow. Its a pleasure working with such a diverse clientele, there is always something new to learn!
I am also the mother of two wonderful children, Jamie and Will, and happily married to David Ellenstein the producing artistic director of North Coast Repertory Theatre.
