::The Class::
First time students attend a one to one orientation with Kim. This helps
them understand her terminology and technique based on the listening
process.
The classes are then taught in two-part cycle:
::Part One::
Scenes are rehearsed, worked on, then filmed in several camera angles.
::Part Two::
Scenes are looked at and critiqued only by Kim on a moment to moment
basis. This allows the actor to adopt the skills discussed below:
- Learning to play
the action and not to play the feelings or just the words.
- Learning to listen with a high volume to
hear full implications of the the words.
- Learning where your visual focus is and what it is supported by.
- Learning your specific rythm in the scene.
- Responding to stimulus in imaginary and extraordinary circumstances.
- Learning how important your silences are by making them
specific and active responses to resistance.
- Learning to build truthful dynamics.
- Always learning the words and honoring the author.
- Learning to be simple but not empty in your performance.
